Why it's important to be a member
Stewardship – noun – the job of supervising or taking care of something
Being a LOWDSA member means being a part of the collective voice of stewards who come together to protect the Lake of the Woods area for future generations. It’s important to be a LOWDSA member to learn from and educate others on the issues confronting the region and to support environmental programs so that we may all be proud of the part we are playing in preserving the area.
Membership is open to residents, cottagers and vacationers—anyone with an interest in this area’s environmental and economic sustainability.
Your membership supports the work that we do in so many ways:
- Producing the Area News magazine and the eNews
- Environmental sustainability programing and outreach through our LakeSmart program including kids programming
- Liaising with local government and other organizations to provide resources and current information about the region
- Environmental initiatives including tree planting, shoreline clean-ups, metal and electronic waste collection, boat decontamination, and much more
- Catered-to-you outreach in the form of personal dock visits
- Small scale research and collaboration
