Lake of the Woods Secretariat – Notice Board Updates

2025.07.10 Level Forecast

Jul 10, 2025 12:04 pm

Weather conditions remain unsettled, with recent thunderstorms bringing localized rainfall to the Winnipeg River basin. Another round of storms is forecast for Friday and Saturday. This precipitation is gradually easing the underlying drought conditions and has temporarily halted the decline in water levels and flows.

The current level of Lake of the Woods is 322.79 m (1059.0 ft), a 10th percentile level, below the normal range for this time of year. The average lake level remained stable over the last week and is expected to increase by 2 to 8 cm (0.8 to 3 in) over the next week. Lake of the Woods authorized outflow is 250 m3/s with no changes scheduled.

The current level of Lac Seul is 355.91 m (1167.7 ft), a 20th percentile level, below the normal range for this time of year. The lake level increased by 6 cm (2.4 in) over the last week and is expected to increase by 8 to 15 cm (3 to 6 in) over the next week. Lac Seul authorized outflow is 100 m3/s with no changes scheduled.

There is a broad range in this week’s lake level forecasts because lake inflow will depend on both the intensity of the rainfall and the areas affected by the thunderstorms, which are hard to predict.
