The Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry wishes to advise the public of the temporary closure of the Turtle Portage Marine Railway System on Lake of the Woods. The facility will be inaccessible to the public from ice-out until approximately August 1, 2022, while construction to enhance the safety and function of the
facility is underway. Upgrades include improvements to the winch system, boat cart, rails, docks, and walkway. During this time, boaters wishing to access the waters of Whitefish and Sabaskong Bay are advised to utilize local boat launches.
